Etno-Espa will be opened by Taui, winner of the “Kansanlaulu 2050” competition. The jury selected Taui’s song “Härnähenkien polska” as the winner out of 48 entries and we will hear the first live performance of the song at the opening ceremony.
Taui is an experimental pop artist whose music is coloured by the euphoria of trance, the pinkness of noise and light choruses. The production meanders from one extreme to the next and is intertwined with personal and sensitive lyrics. Their varied themes deal with different shades of life, from the meaningfulness of everyday life to conflicting friendships.
Taui, real name Aleksi Taipale, released his debut album Sikin sokin in 2019, followed by Höpinää -EP in 2020. In the same year, artists such as Desto and APEAK remixed songs from his debut album on Sikin sokin REMIX. In addition to these, Taui has released several individual songs, e.g. on the THRDEYEVSN and Post Human Dance compilations, and remixed folk music band Lapua-Uusi-Guinea.
Currently, Taui is working on his second full-length album, which combines folk dance polkas and experimental club music with pop expression.
