From the rotten roots of folk tradition, echoes of danger and ecstasy emerge. Two women stomp on the muddy ground in time to a blood-curdling howl, while a band of folk players grind their violins like there’s no tomorrow. Recently nominated as the 2022 Folk Music Ensemble of the Year, the duo Akkajee has been performing for a decade at a range of different venues in Finland and abroad. The duo’s second album Lastenkerääjä (“Child Collector”) was released in spring 2021, garnering rave reviews both in Finland and internationally.
