TUE 3.8. 16:00 Maari Kallberg and Ilona Korhonen Alkukalevala – Sammon ryöstö

Alkukalevala –Sammon ryöstö (Stealing the Sampo) is a concert program examining the relationship between traditional runo singing and the stories of the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala. The minds of the two singers join together as one, with melodies and lyrics streaming forth as sung by one singer only. Doctors of Music Maari Kallberg and Ilona Korhonen have been studying runo singing for decades, both as an art form and from a scientific point of view.

This concert is presented by the Folk Music Department at the Sibelius Academy of Uniarts Helsinki
