Northflip’s music is a sparkling fusion of Nordic folk dance grooves and virtuosic instrumentals.

The roots of their original compositions delve deep into the Finnish folk music tradition, and the organic connection between the two instrumentalists brings in an intimate folk atmosphere while the sound expands into captivating rhythms and delicate melodies.

Viivi Maria Saarenkylä and J-P Piirainen represent the emerging young generation of folk and world music artists from Finland.

Piirainen is a prolific composer and an expert in acoustic guitar in folk music, with a wide discography of original guitar music both solo and in various bands.

Saarenkylä is an award-winning accordion artist with a broad international career. For 10 years, she has toured the most important folk and accordion festivals internationally and has received international music awards, such as the European Commission’s Music Moves Europe Talent Award in 2021 with her original lineup, VILDÁ.
