SAT 8.8. 15:00 Children’s Saturday: Kasvu

In collaboration with the Concert Centre Finland

The Kasvu Ensemble’s concert is inspired by diverse natural landscapes: self-taken photographs and music bring, among other things, forests, wetlands, and meadows into the concert hall. Attentive listeners may soon notice that a creature seems to have wandered in from these landscapes — was that a haystack drifting by? Or a woolly-haired ladybird? Like a band at its best, the forest ecosystem works in perfect harmony.

The concert explores the diversity of nature through music, play, contemporary poetry, and factual insights. It takes the audience on captivating, sensitive, and at times thrilling musical journeys, both near and far, while projecting a variety of natural landscapes onto a large screen. Along the way, we reflect together on the kinds of creatures that inhabit these environments.

The Kasvu Ensemble’s versatile musical language is both moving and engaging. The warm sound of vocals and string instruments blends with the rich textures of accordion and percussion. The concert also features several rare folk instruments, including the lute, kantele, jouhikko, and harmonica. The musicians are experienced in working with audiences of all ages, and the participatory elements are adapted to each audience.
