Maija Pokela is a kantele player and singer with a strong background in Finnish contemporary folk music. She has toured all over the world and recorded as a member of various groups (Kardemimmit, ENKEL) along with many other projects. Her debut solo album Lohdun sanoja (Words of Comfort) explores themes found in the emotional spectrum of traditional folk songs such as longing, yearning and comfort. In this concert the music of the album written and arranged by Pokela will be presented with the help of Veera Kuisma’s folk fiddle mastery and Onni Rajaniemi’s exquisite vocal harmonies and guitar playing.
